Crack Monitoring

Crack Monitoring is the precise measurement of a crack using a set of digital callipers measuring to a one hundredth of a millimetre

Overview

We affix stainless steel studs using strong glue (so non-intrusive and easily removed) and measure the distance between the centre holes of the studs. This data is recorded and repeated periodically to confirm if a crack is opening or closing.

A short period of monitoring of a crack can give confidence any movement has now stopped or if it is still moving and further investigation is required.

We carry out crack monitoring using Demec Monitoring studs and Mitutoyo digital calipers using methods set out in the BRE Digest 343 and BRE Digest 386.

Here at Subsidence Monitoring we can provide you with crack monitoring data for different scenario take a closer look at some of our case studies.
